All My Place videos now on the blog

SINCE 2007 CFI EDUCATION HAS BEEN TEACHING YOUNG AT-RISK KIDS TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES THROUGH THE CREATION OF SHORT, PERSONAL FILM ESSAYS. THE PROGRAM HAS GROWN ENORMOUSLY OVER THE LAST 6 YEARS, WITH PROGRAMS IN MARIN, RICHMOND, SAN FRANCISCO AND OAKLAND. MAKING USE OF INSTRUCTORS WHO ARE PROFESSIONAL ORAL STORY TELLERS, WRITERS, ACTORS, FILMMAKERS AS WELL AS FILM STUDENTS AND FILM TEACHERS, THESE TEENS HAVE BEEN TURNING OUT SOME HEART-BREAKING, HONEST, TRANSCENDENT FILMS. THESE ARE ALL TRUE STORIES OF STRUGGLE AND TRIUMPH, NOT FICTION. THEY ARE MADE WITH THE SIMPLEST CAMERAS AND THE MOST ELEMENTARY EDITING IN A FIVE-DAY BASIC CRASH COURSE. WE PRESENT THE BEST OF THOSE HERE IN EASY-TO-ACCESS FORM AND HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM AS MUCH AS WE HAVE ENJOYED WATCHING THEIR CREATION AND BEFRIENDING THE YOUNG AUTHORS.

EMAIL EDUCATION@CAFILM.ORG IF YOU ARE A SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCY INTERESTED IN ENROLLING YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TELL THEIR STORY. MY PLACE/MY STORY SESSIONS ARE USUALLY HELD IN FEBRUARY, APRIL AND THE SUMMER VACATION PERIODS.
